Could a stock 403 in an MM U spin tires through 5500 or 6500 class in 3rd gear?

Stock 403? That would be a G engine.

Won't spin through with a good bite in 3rd.

Yes, G engine. Only this is a power unit engine that ran on natural gas. (Now going in the tractor.) Just trying to predict my limits before I pull in the Spring.

I have a 426 CI motor in my U which is a 403 bored.....I have 4206 heads ported and polished and a different cam..... .running 16.9-38 on 18 inch rims..... .I have spun the tires in 3rd;on a loose track..... ..... good biting tracks take a lot of the power but still competetive.

I have a 403 U. Don't run bad for what it is, and ain't no way on earth it's gonna spin 18.4x38s in 3rd if its got a bite or the sled is worth a darn. Then again, I don't expect a lot out of a $700 tractor.

Unless you are running 11.2 by 38 tires. you better get use to 1 or 2 gear. It takes a lot of engine to run 3rd if you have any tires at all. By the way the Family Tradition tractor is a 4th gear tractor aint that right scott

To answer your question Ethan,I really don't think you will be very happy with the results. Most Molines are running around 7 mph in 3rd gear. Don't get me wrong it's about having fun but if you want to throw it up in 3rd go right ahead. I know how it feels when you try to stick your old farm stock up against something like FAMILY TRADITION the outcome is always the same. Its like the old saying goes: YOU CAN'T HIDE MONEY! Don't get me wrong I'm not the jealous type,but one of these days I'm going to beat that tractor if it's last thing I do.

I know the truth hurts,but one can only dream. Maybe one of these days I'll have a tractor that is as awesome as his. Then and only then will I have a chance to become MISTER JANUARY just like him.

Why's it gotta be like that? I'm going under all because of that dag gone tractor. There's no way it's a 4th gear ride anyway! I did not know disc brakes could give it so much power! Y'all holler at me.

Alright Tradition dont start telling lies. Everybody knows the only reason you did not go to the Murray pulls because they would make you park your tractor on gravel and get all that chrome dirty. The only way your going to beat my tractor is to pull in farm stock with me. {like thats going to happen }

Thanks for the input. I was curious. I'm expecting a calm 75 hp from my dirt cheap good tight old motor. Just a shame to tear it apart just yet. Maybe more when I get ambitious. We'll see. I know some stock GBs running 2nd gear good in 7500. Maybe just a little shy on power sometimes, so 2nd gear will work ok. I was curious. This tractor isn't for running with the big dogs, just some fun classes. Thanks again for the input. Don't get to hostile out there! Ha ha.
