I would like to hear pros, cons, and comments regarding Minneapolis Moline round port heads vs. the square port heads. Such as 10A4210 vs. 10A4230 or similar types. Square port heads are better, but can round porters be built well? I am debating whether to hold back, or go all the way with nicer heads. Interested in hearing what people have done and what they think.

Ethan

I have talked to a few people who run them on U's and the general concesious is there isn't much noticeable difference at or near stock rpms,(when comparing to a similar compression round port head). I am going to try them because I have a set sitting on a shelf. I will post the difference when I dyno(might be a while).

Dave, you may want to talk to someone who has ported these before or find a diagram of a cross section so you don't grind through. I saw a guy who cut a cracked one into quarters, thought that was a good idea. I have seen some ported 4210's that have huge ports. I did a set of 4213's but kept it pretty tame (about .100 bigger on the intake and polished under the valves.

The square port heads will flow alot more air than the rounds will.

Dex Holshouser e-mailed me to tell me that you have one tough GBD. I am considering buying one and I was curious what experience you have had with it. You can e-mail me if you like at edberry78@hotmail.com. I sure would appreciate some info on the MM diesel system. Thanks!
