I will email a set of rules to anyone that wants. Or send a SASE to:
Jon Aller
1122 Duck Creek Dr.
Iowa City, IA 52246

As far as what to expect. Expect to be treated fairly and honestly. We like to start on time and keep things moving.

See you there.

For the rules go to pullsite.com Click on Sigourney rules. As far as what to expect, this is the site of the first antique tractor pull held as an indoor pull. The building is a long cattle shed type building that you would have at any fairgrounds. Building is not heated, so take your long handles, snowmoble suit or whatever you need as it may get cold. It sometimes is rainy, so wet weather suits are good to have. It is just the time of the year when the weather does not know what it wants to do. You will register for pulling in a building next to the one you pull in. They have food and pop, plus tables to eat at and a few other things going on in there. Once you register, you and your tractor will be checked prior to the event you are in at the west end of the track before entering the building. Main thing is to know who you follow once you are inside the track area. Once you pull, you are possibly checked again on RPM's etc. If you are planning on a full pull, CAUTION, you have a short shutdown area.---GOOD LUCK !!! ---deadeye

Sure would be nice to get far enough down the track once to have to worry about the short shut down area...

If you pull in 5500 Classic, they run several flights of tractors, and take the top 2 from each flight for a pull off. Considering the number of hooks they have in that class, it's the only way to do it. They run a lot of tractors, and in a relatively short time. The track grooming is as fast as any.

We run Antique, Classic, and Open. The Antique and Classic are 3.5-4 mph. Speed is controled by a 5th wheel on the sled that blows a horn. You get ~75 feet to get your speed right, after that if you blow the horn you are out. Open can run any speed.

I'm guessing the pace in the classic and antique will run around 3.5 mph, but Jon Aller would be the one to answer for sure. The hot class is open gear. Classic and antique are probably at 10% over on rpms, open is 20%, if I remember right. Haven't looked at the rules for this year yet.

If they do the pace like they have in the past, you get 50ft to figure it out with the horn. After that, the horn blows, you are DQ'd. Feller has DQ'd himself in the pulloff on the big money class a couple of times in the past. The one year, I'm pretty sure he would have won the class. About a $750 speeding ticket.

I really enjoy pulling there. They treat you fair, run you through quick. They don't wait around for you, line up about 8 inside. They will give you a courtesy check on rpms for the asking.

Horses are a must in the open classes, but in the speed limit class, it's as much about setup and balance as it is horses.
