Insurance cost?

As I am sure you are all aware, the insurance companies are certainly trying to recover costs associated with 9/11 by raising premiums. Our club is no different when we saw our premium skyrocket. We have been trying to determine whether to raise the club membership or hook fee?

I was wondering if anyone has found a particular company fair with their pricing/coverage's? Do you know what your coverage's are?

Are any of your clubs incorporated? I believe some clubs operate using umbrella policies of the local fire department/non-profit?

Final questions? Does your insurance company require some form of a physical barrier (chain link fence, cable, rope, concrete jersey barrier, defined line) between the track and spectators?

Thanks a bunch

Our pulling club is a branch of Early Day Gas Engine & Tractor Assc. (EDGE&TA). They are in the process of changing insurance--as to what nobody knows. The insurance before had to many loopholes (my opinion). Might check their website for any updates. This has been the cheapest insurance.

There's a brokerage agency in the state of Florida that writes about 3/4 of all the sled operators, pulling clubs etc. I don't have the name of the agency here at home but if any of you would like that info I can retrieve it from my office. There's also a motor sports agency in Kansas City that used to dabble in this too. I have a suggestion that may work in some situations and would be worth a try. Let's say the local Lions Club wants your club to put on a pull on their property. When it comes time to sign a contract you tell the Lions Club that your pulling club wants to be named as an "additional insured" under the Lions Club liability policy. If the insurance company agrees then both clubs have coverage under 1 policy. If you're in a situation where the pulling club owns the premises then you don't have much choice in buying the insurance.

We just had this conversation at ower meeting last week end, I asked board members to check if we could buy better insurance for a lowwer amount if several clubs went together under one deal. Don,t have an answer for you just a idea.
