What would be the easiest way to get a '39 Farmall M down to about 4300 pounds right now it weighs 4740 with me on it and all it has done to it is pressed steel rims on the back

I was having a weight problem as well with my 1950 M and we dropped alot of weight by building a light weight frontend. As well as lowering the nose a great deal. I have an extra frontend that we built for sale with 12" front tires on it that is ready to bolt right on to your tractor. I am selling it for $250. If you are interested or any other Farmall Puller call me at 419 295 4592.

Start with the bigger stuff-hydraulics,pto,belt pulley drive.build an adjustable hitch, get rid of u-shaped drawbar. Then start looking at small stuff,do you really need that toolbox half-full of dirt and rusted wrenchs???It don't take too long and it will be there.

If the rules will allow it take the PTO unit out and all of the hydraulic unit as well. I am not sure how much more that will get you but it adds up quick. The tree that the lights attach to can come off as well. Heck if nothing else just put helium in the tires..LOL!!!!

I have a stock '41 Farmall M. It weighs 4700lbs with me on it. -does not have hydraulics. I was thinking of losing some weight to get to 4500. My M has a mag so I was thinking of losing the belt pulley unit, battery & maybe the starter. -might swap the cast wheels for pressed steel also.

Thats the lightest "M" I've heard of.
Mine weighed in this past weekend at
5530..... no weights ,no liquid in tires. Does have power steering and live hydralics and 15.5X38 rears.I'd like to get down to 5000 lbs..can't see how with all the stuff on it.

I live in southwest missouri and pull a 1953 Super M. My tractor weight with me on it is 4,400. I have pressed steel wheels too.

Are pressed steel wheels a factory
option when new? Are they legal in Farm Stock class?

They are an OEM replacement, I think. You could/can order them from the IH dealer, so you can run them.

My tractor is a 1953 and where I pull in southwest missouri, kansas, and oklahoma it is considered a classic and my wheels are legal.
