sorry that I didnt reply sooner As for the piston Question Im sorry that I didnt explain, We use a J&E piston that is designed for a drag racing chevy motor Like a bored out 502. If you need the part number I have it somewhere J&E does stock these pistons so you can just call and get them. We do machine the block to accept the sleeves, you will have to turn the outside of the sleeve down just a bit. On the motors aver 5 7/8 stroke we start filling the blocks with hard block to add some strength. you will want to run a copper head gasket from Lubboc Gasket. we also run a dry deck to prevent water in the cylinders. we also bore the slevees alittle. But be careful any stroke over 6 creates a high rod angle.

start with a set of sleeves out of a 466 cubic inch deere motor (4440, 4650, 4250 etc.) bore the sleeves to accept a big block chevy piston, for rods get a set out of an H farmall they are a little longer than a c rod, and are offset and stronger than a c rod. with the crank any place between stock and 6 1/8 is optional when you get over 5 7/8 you will run into some major cam and pan rail work

What make and part number of big-block Chevy piston are you using that requires boring a 466 sleeve to fit? 466 sleeves are 4.56 inch bore, and stock bore for a 454 is 4.25 - .256" smaller than the 466 bore. I looked in several performance catalogs and can't find any big-block Chevy pistons that are available a quarter-inch oversize. I don't believe the 502 crate engine even has that big of a bore. What type of head gasket are using? Are you machining the step off the top of the sleeve? How are you sealing the sleeves in the bottom of the block? Please fill me in, as these sorts of projects interest me.
