We have a 1939 Farmall M..We have took off lights, belly pump, belt pulley, pto, have 3gal alm. gas tank, put press steel wheels on back with MH44 hubs, 560(narrow) front-end. We are wondering how much weight we would lose takeing off Massey-Harris 44 hubs for weld ons and cutting off extra axle. And how much would we lose filling the rearend full of expanding foam and how to put it in????It weighs 4680 right now with driver and we need to lose 200 lbs to pull 4500....ALL COMMENTS ARE APPRECIATED EMINSELY

What style of pressed rims do you have? Some of them are heaver than others. I pull a 48 M and I have all the things you have done, and I get into almost all the pulls weighing 4500lbs. With no alminum on it.

Just curious but why would you put expanding foam in the rearend? I think I would rather have some oil in there or something instead as I don't like repair bills:) I made a joke of this one time but you might put helium in the tires, might work ?? Are your weight brackets and stuff made out of aluminum also?

We acctually just ordered the alminum for the brackets today. and the foam is susposed to displace oil and sice it is lighter you would lose weight. THANX:)

all you need is enuff oil to catch the bottom gears. if you are running 90 wt. oil, it will be thick enuff to travel up the gears and oild you bearings. obviously you won't be using the tractor on a regular basis, but if you were to use it all day(plowing)you would want more in it.
