Anyone using E-85(15% gas & 85% ethenol) in thier pulling tractor? It's 100-105 octane and burns real cool. I don't know the specific gravity though.

I concur with these guys who say you need to burn more. E-85 has about 75% the energy per gallon as does gasoline. Laws of physics says that you need to burn about 30% more to develop the same hp.

Burning e85 in a >10-1 compression JD A. Don't notice any temperature difference. Do have to open load needle compared to e10/89 octane. Have ran e85 in a <13-1 G, but had to mix 1/3 with Cam2 to keep from pre-igniting. State Corn Grower Council will send you decals if you want to let everyone know you are supporting the industry.

The big gains would not be had 'til switching to Methanol. It has more oxygen in it than ethanol.

I agree with six gear MM. I don't believe youll notice much of a change until running Methanol.

I've seen a 4-5hp gain on a stock M. You have to burn alot more e85 than reg gas to make the power though.
