Our sincerest appreciation for all your thoughts and prayers. I am home briefly after watching Eric walk around the hospital room this afternoon, with a walker.

Whether it was luck, his good sense, the Grace of God or all of the above, Eric is lucky to be alive. And thankfully, I was within 30 feet of him when it happened.

He tore up his the muscles in his left thigh and severed a few blood vessels, missing the femerol artery by less than a quarter of an inch. No back injuries, no head injuries, no internal injuries. The biggest thing he hurt was his pride, although he says it happened because I had asked him to wash some dishes before he went outside to load the tractor!!!!

Eric has loaded and unloaded tractors, combines, hicycles and most any other farm equipment since he was 12 years old so it's not like he didn't know what he was doing. To quote the definition of an accident "An unexpected and undesirable event, especially one resulting in damage or harm".

The doctor says he will be in the hospital another 24 to 48 hours. He will not be able to put any pressure on his left leg for several weeks, and he's gonna be quite sore for some time to come. Of course once the muscles heal, he will be undergoing physical therapy for quite some time, which means sitting on a tractor will not be in the foreseen future.

We are blessed to have some very special friends who are working to get The Bulldog checked out and ready to pull this Saturday in Pageland. New radiator, new throttle lever, new front nose/cowling, and new seat. AND, the plans are to have Eric there to watch for as long as he can stand it.

As soon as I can, I will post some pictures of The Bulldog.

Again, our sincerest appreciation to all for your thoughts and prayers.

Linda & Eric Benton

Do you mean that the bull dog will actually finally be red? You may just have to paint the whole thing! Really glad you can get it and Eric going again. God's hand was there!

Glad to hear that he's going to be OK. Maybe this will save the life of someone else, it certainly made me stop and think about loading up the next time and to not take every day for granted. Good luck and have a speedy recovery. Dave from MN.

Hey there Miz Bulldog,

Mighty glad to hear the accident wasn't any worse than it was. I reckon we all take the little things for granted. I think how many times we all load up after dark and a heavy dew, with little or no light, in a hurry, etc. Think I'll make it a point to be a little more careful myself.

Wishing Eric a full and speedy recovery. SECONDLY, I'm glad the damage to THE Bulldog was minimal. I'm sure that by now it seems like one of the family as well. Hope to see you both this season.

Best Regards! John Hinson
