Tire size, type of cut/no cut, brand of tire, how old, tread type, tread depth and especially the type of track determine what psi will do the best. There are NO set answers. We run tires from 13.6x38 stock to 18.4x38 cuts and have won with from 14 to 30# in the tires. GENERALLY speaking 14-18# seem best. We have a air supply on our semi so if we need air, it is available, or pump up tires at home and you can always let some out at the pull. The 8-9# seems low. There can be a 2-3# differance in air guages also. Good luck!!!!! !

My father would disagreee with you greatlyl, and quite frankly, so will I. I believe that the tires should give a little, but 8 or 9 pounds is way too low. You have to realize when those tires flex, you lose drawbar height, and that makes a big difference. Oh yeah, I'm not just a keyboard puller, I do the real thing and I'm pretty successful.

Like I said, it is all a matter of opinion. I think alot has to do with track conditions and so on. I just thought I would give you my opinion.

How do you keep the wheels from slipping in the tire & tearing your tube at the valve stem?
