Alright here is the problem. We had a guy join the club this year who found a 560 that falls into the classic tractor class. He has spent some big $$$$ on this tractor and it shows. He is running around 80hp. he is beating the pants off everybody in the 6500-10,000pd classes. I can get to within 15" of his pull as mesuared on the sled but that is quite a ways on the ground. I am pulling a 56'400D with loaded tires and about 1000pds of cast weight in the 8500 class and am thinking of dropping about half of the cloride for more weight behind the axles. I have not turned the timing up any nor do I think I will have to. Running out of traction is the problem right now. I am running 20yr old firestones that have about 50% tread left (15.5x38). Any help at all would really be appreciated. I REALLY WANT TO BEAT THIS GUY. PLEASE HELP ME OUT Matt

Remove the liquid ballast & use cast iron to balance your tractor fore/aft in the lightest class it will weight into. Pull in the highest gear she will spin out in. Get a set of hard old 23 degree tires cut to bite the track. Of course using a Deere tractor would help too.

First thing is park that 400 in the shade somewhere. It's not even in the same class. I got beat by ten tractors at Rural Retreat last week end and five of them were 560 diesels and most were right out of the field, nothing fancy. Nine of the ten were red tractors and I was running a green tractor. One 560 also smoked me at Endview Plantation pull. He walked out the other end with the box topped out. I guess you know what I am in the market for. Simple equation: horsepower plus traction equals winning. Good luck.

I go out to enjoy myself but last pull this guy took first in 4 weight classes with this tractor. I believe he is trophy hunting. I of coarse belive in having fun that is why we started the club to begin with. We have a limited open class for the boys with the high rpm toys that cost big $. For what he has into the 560 he coulda built one of them. I think he can be beat by a half worn out desiel and am just lookin' for some advice on how to do it. thanks

Where do you live?Mabe you can rent a tractor,it
shouldn't be too hard to find something that can
put away a 80HP 560,I have at least 2 sitting in
the backyard.

Get you some 15inch wide wheels and some 16.9 38 Firestones and see what kind of engine you have.If he is running that much horsepower you will have your hands full whatever you do.Good luck to you.

I agree with G Taylor except for the last part. I like to pull against guys who have fluid in the tires. Dump the fluid and go at him. Let us know what you did.

You can beat this 560 with your 400 if you want to spend big bucks. You can buy a 560 and put 18.4-34's on the back and beat him. HP is not everything
