2000 Powerstroke with 132K miles. When driving in rain, it occasionally cuts out while going down the road. A few times while idling at a stoplight, darn thing cuts completely off. ONLY HAPPENS WHEN IT IS RAINING! First, any ideas what it is? Second, how in the world am I supposed to find out what it is when it only happens once in a while?

Know this ain't a pulling question, but I'm not gonna be able to go to any pulls when it is raining till I get this fixed.

Scott -

As someone below had suggested, you should go to thedieselstop.com and check out the forums there.

I am a member also and feel that you will probably find that your CPS (Cam Position Sensor) is the culprit. They are notorious for cutting out while going down the road. Since they are located on the front of these engines, they would be unusually susceptible to being bombarded with water travelling down the road in a rainstorm.

Just a thought...
