What all can I do to get more HP out of a 41 M? I want to pull in local pulls, but I need to keep the engine reliable since I farm with it. About how much HP can i get out of this tractor and still keep it reliable? Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks

John

Just be careful in the field. When the 560's first came out, they were putting 60 hp through the same rear end as an M. Those rear ends din't last.

Pull the sleeves out of the block and bore it as far as you can go,then install some M&W high comp pistons.Shave the head down to the valves and you will be crowding 60 horse. It will still sound like a stocker idleing and you can still bale hay too but when you hit the track, hammer down from 5000 to 7500 pounds if you got the weights.

I know what you're saying bill, and the tractor will probobly be just as reliable, but the higher compression will make him run more expensive fuel, costing him alot more to farm, and boring it alittle, might make it heat up alittle easier. But I guess a fella's gotta pay to play. Later on, Greg H

You want to keep in mind ,that adding this extra horsepower puts added load on trany and rear axel gears.----I know of M's, in years past using IH kits, pulling teeth off these gears ....just be ready to fix it if you break it !As far as using this tractor on the farm, just rember ,don't make it a habit of using this extra h.p.in the field. It is ok for belt pulley jobs, but you must use your head.----Don
