Looking for some advice for a rod/ piston combo for a JD A with a 8 1/2" stroke crank, or a source for custom pistons and rods.

I believe Murphy Motor Service can build custom connecting rods, as well.

Cunningham Rods, expensive. They can be welded but not very many people know how to make them last. If you ever find anyone who runs a CNC machine they could cut a set out of 4130. It would still cost you but might be worth it.

Just opinions.

I also have a friend with a wd45 4.5 by 6 bore and stroke and he gut checks it all the time and they have lived for several years now. The first set was made by someone out of state that was supposed to be reputable. It trashed the block on its first pull. The set he has now have even had propelyne oxide (spelling) put to them. So that is why i said what i did. I wouldn't hesitate to use them if i was sure the welder knew what he was doing, had a good understanding of metalurgy and knew how to normalize the rods in the cool down process. Hope i have help and not confused the issue.

(spelling)
