has anyone ever used a hot knife to cut tires?..... just looking for an easier way than grinding that i could do myself!!!! LOL

I use the regular tire cutting disc in my disc grinder. I have about three different sizes and grits. Just a tip for you. Whatever you use, do it in the winter time when tires are cold. This works best when temp. are below freezing. Just a little cool though.---deadeye

We have used a hot knife,it works but you want to
really cheat get a sawsall with a wood blade.
that will cut it faster than a hot knife,and it don't smell as bad.it took about 2 blades to do 1 24.5-32.have fun!

I did what Redman said, but I hit each side of the blade with a grinder. Just sharpen it a little bit like a knife. You can then smooth the lugs with a grinder.

Try a router with a roundover bit.
I have used this to cut my tires for my Doodlbug.
Its still messy but works pretty good.
