Ok I pulled this tractor last year in 5500-6000 and it does well. Had water in the tires to make up forthe cast wheels I took off to put pressed steel on. Running 15.5-38's now and the tractor bare weighs 4060. I can get it in 4500 easy.

In the heavy classes I have never bogged the motor down in first ( farm stock class and the tractor is stock) My question is will I have more power than I need in the lighter classes and just spin out or will it do better there. We pull usually on hard clay tracks around here but it is looking like awet track for next weekend. Would i do better to put the water back in the tires and stay in the heavier classes?

Any insight on this is appreciated!

Thanks!

I weighed my Oliver 88 in at 5210 with 1 set of Oliver wheel weights on the inside of the hubs. In my area, Oliver 88's, Farmall M's, Massey Harris 44's, and John Deere G's are not allowed to pull below the 4500 lbs class. If you got plenty of power, run a higher gear. I plan to run my Oliver in both first and second gear, because I have got 15-5-38's which are bald, and good pullin tires. Never know what she's gonna pull until you try it! Good luck this year!!
