I was about to order a bunch of stuff from denny's for my M, I am glad I happened to be reading this forum does anyone know of another good place I can buy the intake/exhaust header , a bigger carb, cam , and possibly the electronic ignition, these are just some small upgrades for now, I have already had head work done , shaved and bigger valves put in, didn't notice a lot more power but a little. Anyone have any recommendations
Thanks

I will run over the list of all the engine related work i have done so far. M&W 4 inch overbore pistons increased comprssion high dome type. Head shaved bigger valves a little bit of polishing. Accell super coil but still running points. carburetor machined out slightly to improve horsepower for 264 cubic inches. that is about it. any other things I could do.I want a different cam and I would like to go to a 450 block. Oh yeah and I get 205 psi in the cylinders from compression test.

Be thankful you did not buy anything from denny's, they are too expensive and have the worst attitude I have ever come across, I do not see how they have been in business this long with the way they treat people.

The setup on my Super M is as follows:
4 1/8" M&W "add power" pistons, 450 lp head and a propane manifold(Y type), a hot cam from Bullett Cams(I can get you their number if you need it), electronic ignition with a 65,000 volt MSD coil, a good sturdy hitch is essential. My tractor dynoed at 85hp.

I was lucky finding the head, everything included(even the tires and rims) I have less than $1,000 in it and am very competative.

Any Ideas where I can buy some of these things, there isn't very many good tractor places around here. Any numbers of places that I can order these items from would be great.

If you are truely interested in some those items I would advise you to call Hank Steel 586 405 6270 in Michigan, he has the intake and exhaust system that you are looking for. The added plus is that is legal cause it is made out of cast iron. The ignition system you need should be avalible at any NAPA store. For a Cam, call a salvage yard and ask for a cam out of a 450 gas. the carb is all in how many cubics you have.

Well mister know it all in his "FIRST" posting he only stated that he had an "M" not a "SUPER M" so before you act like a total prick and know it all make sure you get your facts right!

Is there really that much difference in the cam in a 450 and an M? I mean will it make enough difference to have to take all that apart?

Remember that power is nothing if you can't hook up. Make sure that you have good pulling tires and get your balance right. Next to horsepower, I think balance is the most important thing.

As for more horsepower, "There's no replacement for displacement." Get a used set of 4 1/8" pistons and work on your stroke.

I run 34 inch steel pressed wheels with 18.4 firestone field and road tires on them, traction is not a problem, and I have never any any trouble with balance except when I weightes it to 8500 lbs.

The heaviest I will ever go and it is very unlikely I will pull it at this wiehgt very much is 8500. I have pulled it there twice and it is hard to hang enough weight in the right spot and it liked to ride a little bit too high of a wheelie. normally I will be pulling at 4500-6500 lbs

If you want to pull 6500, 80 HP would be enough with 18.4-38 cut tires.
If you want to pull 9500, you better have over 100 HP with 18.4-38 cut tires.
You can pull with your 830 John Deere.
My Super M has got 4.3 pistons, one inch of stroke, 450 head ported, good govenor. My boys says she's a little goosey ha!
