first of all go with a straight pipe and if your rules allow it you can build your own exhaust header without any trouble at all, if you can weld you can go to a muffler shop and get some pipe bent and get a flat piece of steel to use for flanges and use a torch to cut holes in it , just make sure not to go smaller than the port holes in the head. If possible get the overbore kit to make it a 123 cid , if you don't care for spending a little , this will add about 5-8 hp. You can also take the carb and have it machined out a little to give it some more power , even get a machine shop to clean the head up a little to gain some power there. if the rules allow it back the screws on the governors all the way out to get all the rpms you can. you can stick a element filter on back of the carb that will flow pretty good , you might even be able to find a K&N the will fit it , but most don't bother with air filters. I used to PUll an A farmall in a dead weight pull at 3500 #. I done a lot of this work myself. It done really good on percentage. You just have to be careful if you ever hear a pecking noise in the front of the engine , the timing gears are going out , I know of several 113/123 engines that have done this , as well as my own . Gears run around $200 with a bunch of work to change it all out.

Not too many pulls with a 3500# classes around here. Don't know of ANY 2500#. Better check how much your tractor weighs and find out where there are classes for you to pull in. Good luck!

There was a guy in my area who bought a CA Allis to pull in the lighter classes and it had fluid in the tires and he was too light even for 3500.He added weight to get to the 3500 and there were WD's all in them classes, wasn't no comparison(he never run out of power but he wouldn't have been able to turn the bigger tires needed to win the lighter class).Them Wd's and WC's get light and pack a lot of punch.Once seen an M Farmall get down in the 3500lb open class with weight on the front.Good luck.
