You have questions. I have the answer. I build pulling parts for H-450 Farmalls. from 130 hp Hs
to Ms running road gear at stock rpms and naturally aspirated and look stock in appearance. With over 30 years experience, I could point you in the right direction. (full pull line) 574-893-7437 Chad or Earl

what kind or style of pistons do you have?
Are they flattops, or firecraters, or a stepped,
or raised dome of any kind?

Dirt in the tank, in the sediment bowl, the screen filter in the fuel line at the carb. Dirt in needle seat, the jets, the metering stem, the idle circuits, dirt can be everywhere when you have it in the tank. It does'nt take alot to plug up a carb. possibly rebuild the distributer. make sure the mechanical advance, under the points are not froze up or the springs are not broken or damaged. A good tune up (cap, rotor, wires, plugs, replace the coil if its old. Then I would check the valve lash on the rocker arms make sure they are adjusted properly. Just wanted to give some ideas where to look for HP. There maybe 5-9 hp gain by making sure the carb, ignition and the valves are in good working order. more info later. bye.

How many HP does it take for the M to pull in road gear. And what are the bore and stroke of such a beast?

I would say your H is one wild ride LOL!

4-11/16 x 7-3/4 for an M. I did not build this engine. It was built in 2000 by a southern Indiana group of pullers and mechanics. A fellow puller bought this tractor and I rebuilt the engine for him. it was a 44 M and was 165 hp. it weighed 4200lbs. I converted the tractor to alcohol. I have a 200 hp dyno and it was not big enough to harness it. the needle on the guage come back around to 0.

I would like to give a little info about my H. posting at 340 cuin, We built this motor to pull division 4 and 5 NATPA in late 98. After watching and pulling against the best in the NATPA in the 3500 catagory. drivers like the Tarbils of Ohio, Wheeler Rittenger of Ohio, after pulling in the same class as those drivers we built this engine to run open classes, We were disqualified at Columbia, Mo. at the championship pull in 99 for a broken drawbar. the bore is 4.030 the stroke is 6.25. I use alcohol for fuel and about 2300 rpm max. at 540 on the dyno she pulls 130 hp,

Bragging rights. I have pulled against them before in the past when I followed NATPA around for 3 years 98-01. Expereience. I have had the chance to pull against the best NATPA had to offer at the time. I have respect for veteren NATPA pullers past and present. When I get the hook magazine, I look at the NATPA results, I still see Wheeler's Super H, Greg Lemmons, IH 350 utility, Suzie Bear's Ford 960. in the top three places. Its been that way for a while until someone starts attending all the pulls that they go to, gain experience to out pull them, then their names are going to continue to be intimidating, in the 3500-4000 div 4and5.

My M will run up and down the road all day at stock RPMs, but I don't think I'll ever be able to get 130 horses from my H. I'd have to see your's to believe it too.
