Type of ignition was not listed but if you are running electronic with hot coil and amplifier box i.e.:MSD,Mallory,Jacobs,I would start at .045 and try it and go up from there.Pull your plugs after each pull you attend and inspect them,if you see any signs of high speed glazing, detonation, carbon fouling,or any other adverse condition stop and close them up .001 at a time until it clears up.Once you do that you then have a starting pint if you want to try a different heat range plug or a different plug make.It is a good idea to keep a record of this information forlater.

I have a 500cid M-Farmall,with autolite plugs gaped at .080,,I run open classes at 30% over, and have yet to change the plugs, there are at least 30 pulls on them maybe more!,,I don't change them unless I have trouble with them.

I run a 281 c.i. super m with msd coil, 115 octane and 265 psi per cylinder. I run a 48 gap with autolite c-81 plugs, no problems, I also change plugs every 10th pull.

My 2 cents worth
