It sure is nice to be able to sit here in front of this computer thing and tell all of you wonderful folks thanks for all your thoughts and prayers while I was laid up! I am getting stronger each day with the help of my wonderful wife and family. I still have a lot of therapy to contend with, but that is what it will take. I have it on strong authority that maybe in July I can climb up on the ol' WD and try again! I do hope to be in Pageland next week end as a spectator. Hope to see many of you then.

To Brenda, Darrell, Linda, thanks for the calls and baskets and flowers. You are special folks. RMWSD Thanks for the calls and prayers! To all the rest again thanks for the many prayers! Ya'll are the best folks in the world!

See you soon!

I'm glad you're getting better. I know its dangerous out there, I'll think of you every time I get out of the engine in traffic. We have about 16 miles of I-64 and 11 or 12 miles of 4 lane Mt. Parkway in our area, gotta watch out for those idiots out there with one hand on the cell phone and the other on the CD player!

Take care, Fireman in KY

Yea! We need to look at ways to cut traffic off until all people and equipment are off the truck! Not only cell phones and CDs but little old ladies looking around at 70 MPH

I'm a firefighter as well and deal with accidents almost daily. I am convinced that people have a natural tendancy to stray towards a scene as they are staring at it. At least yearly we get an accident at an accident, usually someone rearending backed up traffic. If you are on an engine company, block the entire lane. You still have to deal with traffic when you get tools out but if forces people to give you more room. Hope you have a speedy recovery and get back to pulling.

I've taken to instructing my driver to park sideways, blocking the lane and the emergency lane. It's really nice when you have 2 engines there, 1 in front to work off of and 1 to block traffic, but that doesn't happen often in our understaffed department. Shoot me an email sometime and we'll talk shop. You all be safe out there!

We are thrilled to hear you are progressing so well. How has it been sleeping in the garage with the WD? (-:

We'll be in Oakboro the 30th & 31st, not back in Pageland until June 21 (which is VERY close to July!!!).

We're not giving up on you -- you are still in our thoughts & prayers.
