I've got an Allis WD and my piston is 1/4" away from the head and it get over 300 lbs. of compression. I went to my first pull and as soon as it started to lug it just fell on its face. I put the tractor iin 2nd gear and and I can make it stall out using my brakes, where last year when I was using 175 pistons it was unstopable with brakes. What do you gys think?

Your not too high if you can use racing fuel with
about a 105 to 110 octane rating. Should make good
power. I run just under 300 psi with no problems.

The compression must be 10 or 11 to 1, it must really turn out some HP. It should lug as well as before if the octane & the timing match the compression. Remember, you still have the same piston surface area as before - the main thing that you must do to get torque is to slow the flame propogation. Try the highest octane gas that you can find.
