I went to the Franklin TN pull this past saturday with a 1946 W4 that is completely original except having been painted. I pulled in the 4500lb farm stock class and while I was weighing out I disqualified because whoever the dumba$$ judge was said my rear tires were to big for the tractor. The tires have been on the tractor since it was new and I have pulled it in every state from TN to NY and have never even been questioned about tire size. I am sitting here looking at the original purchase sheet for the tractor and it lists right on it the size tires that were on the tractor when it was bought new in 1946. I am not concerned with winning tractor pulls I go for the fun, but this really pi$$ed me off to be disqualified over something so stupid when the judge obviously didn't know what he talking about. Every tractor pull has tire size limits and I agree with them but for a tractor with factory size tires to be disqualified really shows what kind of pull these people were running and I will never go back this one!!!!! !!!!!

I attended also and seen your W4,nice looking tractor.Did thier rule sheet list a specific maximum tire size for the 4500 lb class? There is not too many W4's pulling around here and maybe thier rules did not take in consideration what options the W4's had.We stayed till 1:30 am till the last tractor hooked.

The rule sheet stated that tires for the farm stock class had to be stock size, you couldn't have bigger tires unless you pulled in the antique class. I can't believe thay pulled until 1 am. I new there was a lot of tractors there but I didn't think there were that many.

Sorry about the confusion and your DQ---but the rules clearly state no wider than 13.6 tires in farm stock up to 6000lbs. and then 15.5 are allowed in 6500 and above. That rule was gone over ( along with several others) in the drivers meeting. They also waived the 15.5 rule and allowed 18.4's in 10,000 (which they don't usually pull at Franklin). There were several rules to do with farm stock including tires, gas, hitch height, hanging weights, etc. You were not the only DQ.

There was an Oliver 77 that had"Slow Ride 1"on the side that went so fast we thought he was going to hit the wall at the end. After that they turned the sled around and pulled towards the open door.Had some wild rides there but was surprised that there wasn't more Shipman built Cases there than there was.

We had a great turn out and we really appreciate all of the support. The tire sizes in the stock classes were the same as every other club in Middle Tenn. I know it isn't fair to some people, but you have to draw the line somewhere. The judge you were speaking of was also the promoter and he would have rather not had to throw you out, but if he wouldn't have said anything, then everyone in your class would have pitched a fit. Jack, you better bring that JD next year!!

I would have brought the G this time but I don't think them 16.9 38's would pass in the Farm stock 6500 and 7500 lb classes.I haven't found a set of 15.5's that I like yet for sale.We pull mainly by Southern Il rules in which farm stock is 20 inch high drawbar and up to 18.4 38 tires 6500lb and up.Had a good time.
