I'm trying to ask all the questions I can before dropping a bunch of $$$$$$ And then finding out that there was a better way to do things. When it comes to pulling is there anything better in the 70 series 8 speed tranny over the 30 series tranny like in the 9 & 1030?
Thanks In advance

As long as you stay with the eight speed it makes no difference.

Ohio Case -

I believe that the 30 series still uses chain - sprocket final drives. This may be an issue for reliability sake, but I have no information to say one way or the other (for sure).

My personal choice would be the 70 series straight 8 speed transmission, because I have seen plenty of these used as pullers...

The last chain drive case was the 6 speed 930 western all GP930's and all 1030's(anything with the 8-speed) had gear final drive.

Milky2390 -

Thanks for the info! This is good to know, as I have thought that a 1030 Case would make an awesome (and unusual) looking puller!!!
