I WENT TO 2 DEAD WEIGHT PULLS OVER THE WEEKEND,
WITH MY 58 JD 730 GAS, I DID NOT DO VERY WELL, I TRIED PULLING IT IN 2ND GEAR AT 9500LBS AND I HAVE DUELED UP 15-5-38'S FIRESTONES AND THEY ARE NEW, I WAS NOT ABLE TO PUT THE POWER TO THE GROUND, KEPT SPINNING THE WHEELS. I AM THINKING ABOUT PUTTING 4- 150LB WHEEL WEIGHTS ON EACH REAR WHEEL TO SEE IF IT HELPS HOLD THE WHEELS DOWN TO GET A BITE ON ASPHALT. DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY OTHER ADVICE? I SURE COULD USE THE HELP. THANKS!!!

I dont dead weight pull but I been to a couple on asphalt and most of the guys turn their tires around backwards, I dont know if you already do this but it may be a start.

We do alot of dead weight pulling on asphalt, you need to get alot of weight on tractor to do well pulling on hard surfaces, also you can pull in low gear and idle the tractor down some, We hook tractor to a hook in concrete to burn tires off day before the pull to get fresh rubber, on our John Deere 60 we weighted it up to 8000, pulled in first gear about 1/3 throttle, and pulled a load of 17000 pounds, it has 20.8 x 38 radial firestones, we have a total of about 1800 pounds of weight on tractor, some we can move to front but if you pull with too much power on asphalt you will just spin out easily, you need to lug tractor down some.
