Put a stiffer governor spring in. A D17 spring in the WC, WD or WD45 will speed them up.

I dont know about the gas,I had a wd 45 diesel. It had a spring attached to linkage with 2 nuts for adjustment.Tighten it down...more Rs.I even got a shorter spring and removed the linkage totally! But beware...had the Tech man check it before I pulled @ Columbia...3100!!!!
It blowed his weldin' cap off when I opened it up.HAHA Needless to say,I ran it back down.On mine 1/8 " of threads was about 500 Rs roughly.
Hope this helped.
Happy Holiday,Lots O Luck
