I was wondering if anybody else has put together a 6cyl. Allis WD? The one I put together has a 262 combine engine in it and has alot of power to spare. The only problem with the tractor is while pulling at 3500lbs., the front end is now heavy and will probably need to be replaced with a lightweight fabricated one. Anyone else having this problem with the same tractor set-up?

I have an allis. It dont run worth a damn on four cylinders. What makes you think two more will help.

I pull a Diesel WD45 with the 6 cyl. Buda Diesel. The front is a little heavy compared to a 45 Gas. It just depends on where the chain is hooked on the sled. Some sleds it is heavy on the front and some it is ok. Most WD45's with the 4 cyl are a little light on the front anyway. How did you get it down to 3500 lb. Mine is 4005 lb. with a wide front and pretty well striped.

Your wide front is probably the biggest difference that effects the weight. I have a one-piece twin narrow row-crop. Other than that I removed the pto, hydraulic pump, belt pulley and thats about it. This combo works well at 4,000 or 4250, but like I say alittle heavy in 3,500.

Some of the later WD's had a steel rearend housing instead of cast. I have seen a WD pull in 3200#.

Where are you from They don't let us pull a tractor like that here in the midwest except at the pull I put on my open rules say if it bolts up bring it. There was a WD with the combine engine at a napa. pull in wichita they let him pull then DQ. him.

I am out of Casper WY. There are some local pulls that I take that particular tractor to. I had planned on taking it to Sterling last year but opted to load the "G". I believe Ryan Ametis had the 6cyl. Allis at Kansas. You know the little 6cyl. "WD65" is a nice cheap high division tractor. The combine engine is rated at a higher rpm than its cousin the D-19 and has a more desireable but tricky governor. I would guess an honest 75-85 hp for a $400 engine, not bad. When I take the tractor somewhere, it tends to draw attention and you can here people discussing the engine.....every body thinks its a Chevy..... .they just don't realize how easy a conversion it is. The correct police may not agree with them but if more people would assemble one of these or a 806 powered "M" maybe perception would change. Let me know where your from..... maybe I can attend one of your pulls.

John out of Casper--Tell me a little more about 806 powered M? Have you converted an M ? Is it an easy conversion ? Both an 806 D and Gas would fit in an M ? Modify what?

I'm very curious? Thanks for any info you could provide.
