Early 4010's are the easiest to get light (down to around 5000#). There are some castings that are lighter than others. I make all kind of parts that would help you, like hollow axles, aluminum front hubs etc... Email me if you have any other questions.

6000 lbs is relatively easy, 5500 is possible, but takes a considerable amount of work. Mine was 6420 with me on it, and I could have easily taken off another 500lbs. If you use the 466 engine out of a power unit, it's considerably lighter, but, who knows if it will stand up to the high rpms, and high cylinder pressure.

If memory serves right, I thunk there is a 4020 that pulls in the ATPA that pulls Super stock that is that light. I think it is all JD still, His name is NICK HICKS, a 1961 JD 4020 called ILEAN. Big ol pair of red lips on the front side pannels, if you ever want a interesting story, and you see this tractor at the pulls, Just ask Nick why those lips are on the JD!!!!

I can't say for sure but we had a mod stock 4010 that easily went into 5500lbs

removed all of the following: pto, power steering and steering replaced with jeep manual box and tubing for shafts, seat replaced with home made pedastol and lawn mower seat, batery boxes and dual batteries, complete 3pt assembly out & installed plate. front wheel assembly out, installed off of 40 ticycle. fenders off installed 9n ford fenders.....you got the idea!!

I never saw the tractor that Chads speaking of but I suspect it is an 4010 or he has the wrong year 4020 and 1961 don't go together.
