My tire size is 13.6-28. I realize tire pressure is very important, but I haven't quite figured all of this out. How to determine the track condition with a pointed object I don't quite understand fully. I see truck pullers do it all the time, walk, stop, stick & repeat down the track. I put 10lbs in each back tire & drop it as low to 7lbs. Can someone explain this science to me alittle better.

Rule of thumb I was taught is to look at the holes you leave when you spin out. If the hole has a ridge in the middle, you are not running enough air in the tires. Inversely, if your hole had a dip in the middle, there is too much air. Ideally, the bottom of the hole should be flat across from side to side, signifying a flat track from the tire where all the tire is in equal contact with the ground.

I agree with you, I don't know what classes you guys are pullin in, but I know in the 5000# class with a JD A, on a hard track, we use 12psi, and on soft tracks 10. a general rule is 2psi per 1000#. we us it up to 6000#, then 1psi after that. hope this helps.

Don't know about the science of it but for me the harder the track the lower the pressure...have gone as low as 4 PSI. I run the same tire you do and I have experimented with pressures. You just have to try different things.LOL
