Shohn,
if it's an A model it can't be any younger than an early 50's model, something like a 52 comes to mind. secondly if you have the slower first gear you will have a single gear shifter with 6 forward speads, and a reverse on your shifting pattern. If its the fast first gear it will be a high low 3 speed. If you want to make a high low 3 speed pull, you've got to do alot of work to it to increase bore stroke, and RPM. It cost a good bit, and from what I gather an unstyled G would be a better option since you have a larger cid to start with. With the low speed first gear of the straight six speed all you have to do is get some good tires, make sure it's running well, and perchase some weights. That is along as you don't mind going sslllooooowwwww. If you want to pull in 2nd gear with the straight six speed you can override your gov alittle, but more than likely it will require altering your power plant. Good luck, hopefully someone else will give you specifics on the motor work. Later, Greg H

hey greg, thanks. mine has the six speed single stick shifter. i am sorry but when i said a late 50's modle i ment a late 1950, like in the year 1950. sorry after i posted it it did sound odd. if anyone has some tune ups i can use i would appreciate it. i am not sure i want to bore it out any because a guy who pulls 25 antiques told me that in the old two cylinders, to much power means you will just spin out but if you let it bog down, it'll do what a two cylinder is good at, just keep putin. is he right? thanks alot.

Shohn, you've got the good transmission. If you don't want to try to pull 2nd gear{ it will require increased cubes and alot more power;ie $$$} with the tractor, just make sure it's in good running order, and that you have good tires{largest size allowed by the rules, and remember that 14.9 firestones are taller than 15.5's}. You will be running slow with virtually no momentum, but as long as you keep out of the holes you'll do fine on sticky tracks. If it were mine, I'd make sure it had good compression, and I wouldn't rebuild it unless it used oil or didn't have good compression. Rather I'd spend money on a good tire wheel set up, and get enough weights to move up into a class or so above shipping weight, that way you can have more fun pulling plus that is when the two lungers get all they have to the ground. Get yourself a good electronic ignition set up from Gennesee or Petronix. It won't help your HP noticably, but it will make your tractor start easier, and possibley the gas burn more efficiently. Just some thoughts, but you definately have a fine tractor to start experimenting with and if you pull weight transfer you should do well on sticky tracks. good luck, Greg H.

shohn,

do you know if they are going to still be pulling labor day weekend, or is that the "regional" pull. I would like to take my MM U, but I don't know how many more weekends they are going to be pulling.

thanks

joe
