Did M&W make high compression power crater pistons for a 350 gas? Would IH 8,000 ft gas pistons work better?

Yeah, I really liked it down there. I HAD FUN. I'm hoping that my dad will be able to be home so he can come with me. I know that he will love it.
I haven't found many sets of pistons for sale, but that's ok, because I am not ready to put one together. I am trying to find out which works best so that IF I happen to find a set, I know what I am looking at. There is a widowed lady down the road whose husband had an IH dealership in the 70's. He has been dead about 7 years, but they still have some stock in the barn. I did some work for her last night and she gave me 4 NOS ex valves, 4 NOS in. valves, 8 NOS guides, (but they are for a distillate head so I don't know if they will fit) and a set of new valve springs (which I can't find at the moment, but I'm sure they are there.) I am looking forward to Medaryville. I appreciate all the help and advice which you gave me. Oh yeah, which is the best head casting (what number) ? she has 3 old heads laying there, and 2 look like they fit an H. Thanks, and it was very nice to talk with you,....AC

any cyl head off of a SH-350 gas or lp. Lp heads are more expencive, but gas heads with the proper machine work will be just as good. Casting numbers to look for: 3622533r(SH),361479r (300) or 36401(350lp)6186 (H gas) are all good cyl heads for pulling. I can get sleeve and piston kits for a 350 for 350 dollars, new. Gasket kit 35 dollars. rod and main kit for 115 dollars. I have a remanufactured crank (stock stroke) for 225. Just giving you an idea on what the parts would cost. I can get parts for anything!! Hope this helps. ChadS

Are the pistons in the 350 kit the 8,000 ft h.c.'s that you were telling me about? How much does it start cost to put some stroke in the crank with out getting carried away? Can I still get away with H rods? Obviously I won't be out this year, but I am going to dissassemble my spare block and take it over to the machine shop. My machinest owes me a few favors.... Thanks, AC

You can use stock rods up to 5-3/4 stroke on an H. Stock stroke is 4.25. You can comfortably use H rods for a 5.25 stroke you will have to do some clearence work on the block, cam, and rods. Yes the pistons I mentioned are 8000ft. It could cost between 750-1200 depending on how much you stroke it. there are other machinists who can do it cheaper and do just as good of job. Look around for cranks for sale, you may find a bargain outhtere!!! Later ChadS
