We have a farmall M, and our allowed i think 10% over RPM's..I just know with the high speed bolt in the governor case doesn't touch with the throttle all the way back....do we need a stiffer spring? its a super M spring....how do we get more rpm's??

All A person has to do is put a hose clamp on the govener spring and then tighten the clamp. The more coils of spring you put the clamp around the more rpms it will turn up. Cheap and easy to do.

I had the sam prolbem with my M and I took the old spring to the local hardware store and got a hand full of shorter springs and mine turns about 1970 rpm now just try diffrent combos to get the desired setting

okay, here is a couple of ways to more r's,

1. adjust the linkage rod that runs from the governor to the carb.this is under the cap on top of governor housing, we turned 2400r's doing this.if you want more?

2.cut you a piece of flat steel ,needs to be same length as governor spring when throttle is at idle, remove spring and drill holes in plat to match holes where spring was hooked, then bolt in and put governor cover back on and have some fun,i am turning about 3500r's, hope this helps, sure helped us. we did balance our engine, this helps knock down some of the friction.
