I just bought an orginal oliver 1955 with 1900hour 310 turbo. Can i get more power out of this motor than i could out of a 354 perkins dot4 with turbo spending roughly the same money?? Got a 1850 narrow front i want to make into a puller, but dont know which engine to go with Thanks in advance

Go with the Perkins. Even with the improvments in the 310, too many still poke holes in their own blocks. This opinion is from years in an Oliver/White shop. If they don't live long lives at 100-120 hp,turning the fuel and RPMs to them sure won't help. The 310 lovers can begin their attack at the count of three.....

Go with the 1850 and puit a turbo on it. Seen a 2-105 set up for 7500 & 9500 and no one could touch it.

Well, the 1850 has a 310 gas in it now. I want to either put the 1955 310 turbo or the 354 dot4 in the 1850 narrow front and pull 8500-9500 farm stock. I got a pretty good idea of how to get 225-250 hp out of the 310, but was wondering if the same or more was possible out of the dot4 for the same investment. I have been an oliver lover all my life, but if i can get the horses out of the perkins for the same money, i feel i will be a lot farther ahead a couple years down the road. MAYBE LOL

First of all no matter what you do you never get ahead in tractor pulling. But seriously the 354 will make alot better motor for you. Our neighbors run 2 (runnin) 1130Masseys with the turboed 354. They really run strong ane beat everyone until about the 10,000 class. But 10 and down they are dynamite. One of the 1130's they had in the 7500 and pulled road gear on a hard, hard track. Once they get up passed 10 they are competitive but they seldom win. I run a 4320 with a 466 motor instead of the 404. I am getting right around 400 hp. But I have to do that to keep up with the red. Anyhow the 354 is the way to go they really run strong!
