accroding to my book, yes, the 466 crank would work. Does that mean you could use the sleeves and pistons as well?

Why not buy A tractor that is already built?? I've seen some Hot tractors fro sale around that 9500-15000 dollar range, Building an engine could cost you double that, and still have to Build the frame of the tractor. Just my opinion, Chads

I already been pulling with this tractor and looking for more horse power and iam not building a pro stock tractor it is a no turbo farm class that i pull in. I have to keep stock block for that tractor I can't use an engine from a newer series jd with bigger cubic inches, if i do then i cant pull in stock farm classes. and i have a ton of money in this tractor. iam sure there are some 4020 out there in the farm stock that have a stronger engine then mine but there but there is not many of them that is cherried out and set up for pulling like mine. iam only looking to up grade mine for more power. thanks

I see, It's you passion. Have you talked with Dengler Tractor, "Special things?" I have seen a few of their tractors run, pretty impressive, they have anything you want, their ads are in the hook. Chads

I was going to reply to your other post about the head, but never got around to it.

If you are looking for a good and relatively cheap combination, you would be much better off to find yourself a used JD 55 series engine. The block is 466 cubes, and the head has the best airflow of any of the JD heads. Save yourself a lot of time and money and go that route.

i don't think it will,if you really want to know that put a post on the top for g-man,he is a jd mechanic and would know the answer to that.around here they just unbolt the 404 and put a 466 in its place.
