I have a tractor that runs good however I have access to a dyno and would like to use it to get the most out of my tractor. I was wondering what the best way is to do this. For example do you tune the carb first and then the distributor what is the best sequence of steps to get the most out of the engine.
Thanks in advance.

Start with the timing, then work with the carb. Don't be afraid to play with different kinds of fuel. A stock carb could be hiding 5-9hp easily. A properly built carb unlocks your lugging power. Re check the valve lash, and perform a good tune up. It will be worth it in the long run. ChadS

I don't think it makes much difference.Have some one watching the dyno while you turn the carb settings and top it out then go to the distributor and start moving. You may go back and forth a couple of times but you stand to find some extra hp possibly.Good luck.

I've found the best way is to give it a load, then go timing-carb timing-carb, and see where that gets you.
