I was wondering if anyone out there pulls a WD45. If so, are you competing well with the other guys. All I hear about is John Deere,FarmAll and Oliver. Would I be wasting time trying to pull my 45? Does anyone know why they make 45's pull in the 4500-6000 class, when mine weighs slightly less than 4000 pounds. Thats what they do around my county anyway. Franklin County Indiana.

The AC's WD, WD-45, and WC are great for pulling. They can have a lot of power for not much money and most pullers with limited budgets like that alot! Your 45 has a lower 1 st gear than the WC's and most WD's so that will help you in the heavier classes.

A WD/WD45 CAN PUT OUT AN EASY 60HP WHEN SET UP RIGHT....I PULL WITH 38 INCH RUBBER AND HAVE PLENTY OF POWER UP TO 5500..DOES REAL WELL IN THE 4500 RANGE...I CAN GET IT DOWN TO 4000 BUT IS TOO LIGHT TO COMPETE...LOVE TO BEAT MY FRIENDS WITH 6 GEARS..AL

Look in the HOOK magazine pull results. The WD's and WC's dominate in the 3500 and 4000 cut tire classes.

build and weight it right and they will do good in the 4000 to 5000 lb.classes. Running in stock classes they will nver run out ot power.

They can be stout tractors. I have pulled agenst a few they do good in the lighter classes but when the get into the 6000lb and up they can't compete.

It just depends on what class you want to pull.farmer stock class you can get right in there and do very well.4 MPH cut tire class you can make a very very good running machine.open class you can make a great 3500=4000 machine just by calling southeast missouri.

Stock to stock in a field plowing contest they are almost impossible to beat but on a pulling track high dollars are what wins and there does'nt seem to be many Allis people with money to blow on pulling but in southeast MN there are a couple of guys who do very well with WD & WD45.

I have to agree on the plowing part. I watched a plow day once with many JDs, some Farmall, one MM, I think a Ford or two and one AC D-15. The D-15 was pulling a 3-bottom twice as fast as the Johnny Poppers with 2-botton ones, not to mention they were constantly on and off the tractor making adjustments with the D-15 cruised right along.

Beating JD in the field has always been easy. When you can beat a big Farmall then that is something. Dad switch from IH to AC back in the early 60's. His brother-in-law had a WD-45 and Dad had a Super M and when that little "bucking bronco", as he called it, plowed so much faster and used less fuel he had to have one. A couple of years later Dad had a WD-45 too and then a D-17IV. The D-17 was even more suprising.

Pulling plows are as about as fun as watching grass grow.
