Frist time pull

I was wondering what can I do to the engine to make my little CA ALLIS CHALMERS have more power? Would stock tire size be good for an antique class?

How much throttle should I run on take off?

Any help about anythink would be apprecited.

I am a first year puller and would like to stay in a reasonable price range.

I would apprecite any help you all could give me on my tractor, how to pull, etc.

Thanks

We run stock tires on our ca's, as far as taking off we both start out about 1/2 throttle, first gear. I would get as much weight as you can on your rear axle, however we run with wheelie bars so we dont really weight the front. As far as more power, I'm not sure, we run stock engines with fresh ignition parts, rebuilt carb, etc. Nick

How did you attach the wheelie bars? I need to put a set on my 52 CA. Nick

I have a bracket on the back of the axles on each side of the tractor, I assume they were for a cultivator or something. I took a 1" thick piece of steel and slid it into these bracket, marked the hole and drilled them out so I could bolt through them. I then welded a face plate to the rear of that piece so I could weld my bars to that. I made them so that they would slide up for when I was loading the tractor, so where i put the pin for the adjustment I ran a brace back to the 1" pins under the axle for the hydraulic cylinder. If you have any questions E-mail me, or if you want to see them I'm in Auburn In

we use a 52 ca to pull in "stock" antique classes. We have it weighed in at 3500 but have weighed in down to 5500 and still had power, at 3000lbs it just spins. we have wheelies bars and can send pictures if interested. we have found factory frame weights and use different front wheels which weigh alot more than stock. as for power, we have cut our head .040 and plan on a ring and sleeve job this winter. just a good tune up, autolite #303 or 306 plugs, .045 gap, regular gas. It pulls best with front end in air and always wins trophies, even against modified tractors. tractors have a very low first gear 75 to 1 ratio. if you can find rear weights for wheels it will help, we have brackets for suitcase weights. also keep hitch point as high as allowed. it helps get front end up and helps to pull. air pressure at 9-10 psi. water is must in rear tires.

Jump over to the Allis board and shout for Nick(IN). He and his brother Tom both pull CA's and they have been doing pretty good with them. I have a C and a B Allis that I pull but never took my CA to a pull before I sold it.

Just started pulling an AC B model and would like some info on what weight classes that this model tractor is realisticly competitive in, and some tips on obtaining maximum power and torque. Any help would be appreciated.
