Can anyone tell me which FORD tractor pound for pound is the best puller from the factory. I am interested in the pre 1960 models only. My area needs a little FORD representation. Im not looking for any smart remarks from john deere, oliver, allis or farmall owners. I am just looking for some idea of a good starter tractor for the local county fair pulls. I guess any weight class would be OK. It doesn't matter to me as long as I can compete. Thanks for the comments in advance. Dennis

Dennis: I pull a FORD 901 in farm stock and classic: 172ci LPG from the factory. It does very good in classes from 3500-5500# just ask the boys in southern Mo and AR. No mods except tires and fuel rate. Sorry I can't disclose Year. have to keep my friend Krout in the dark on this. I also have a 960 that is pulled in the open or modified classes. This tractor is much modified, cam, compression, cut tires, ect. This tractor pulls the same weights. As they say built better by FORD!

I have a 960 that I hoping to pull next year when I get it restored. From what I hear they are a pretty decent horse. About 3400 lbs and 48 hp aint bad I guess.
Let us know how you do, good luck

I have a buddy that pull a 901 LP,and is hard to beat.He pulls it from 3500-5500 and does very well. But not sure on the year model.
I am after him this weekend though.
Try the Ford page on this site.I posted a pulling question about a Ford before, they didn't mind and I got answers not flak.

Good Luck Krout
