Does anyone know what happened to R F Funderburk or where he can be found? Two fellows in our club really want to find him. One guy bought one of his junk 7.5" JD blocks and the other sent him the connecting rods for a W9 and hasn't seen them since.

Are these isolated incidents or are there others Funderburk ripped off?

Repo Man I have one of Rick 's blocks I had a little trouble with the pushrod holes bored wrong,I had to make a few trips to Rockhill S.C. to get it straightened out but I got it up and running and doing fine,Im having a little trouble, when it gets to telve hundred rpms it just shuts down, electronics is tough on a shade tree mechanic. Rick and his dad run a excavating business in Rockhill S.C.,I think Rick has personal problems as we speak,he and his dad are good people,I think if you be patient Rick will get his act together and take care of loose ends.If you can't wait call Alan Schooler in Princeton Mo. he is familiar with problens with this block (very) and can straighten it out and get it up and running for you,of coarse it will be extra expense on your part ,but all you got now is a high price boat anchor, also Jerrys Machine shop in Witchita,Ks. can help you get it straightened out. You will have to set block up on a CNC milling machine and bore pushrod holes out, they will be elongated when finished but that want hurt anything, also the big rectangulur hole in the water jacket is to large, what I did was take J.B. Weld and make it the size I wanted then coated the inside of water jacket with an industrial epoxy. The pushrods furnished were hollow and they bent,I replaced them withsolid Thompson Steel rods with ball bearings welded to each end, that took care of that problem. The cam gear has to be faced off to a thickness of .495 with the teeth that is next to cylinder has to be rounded off just slightly(by the way I'm using a 1" steel spacer between case and block to aid in clearance with cam gear. It looks like the block want fit,but you will have to grind down side of cylinders on pulley side and flywheel side for clearance,I had to use some JB weld on pulley side where I came thru case just slightly you can't tell by looking. I can go on and on with little problems but it was worth the headackes, this electronic problem is giving me fits,I'll hook on to sled and go fify feet and it will shut down then start right back up,soon as I hit 1200 rpms down she goes again,I'll find it if I down wear engine out first starting it . If I can be of assistance feel free to call me 1-859-744-1049 or e-mail me,I'm not to computer literate so contact me if I can be of help. Gman 817 By the way this engine has 817 cubic inches

The 7.5" block I am talking about is more than just a headache. This guy got as far as having the tractor up and running only to have one of the sleeves (for some reason the bore was bad and Funderburk sleeved it) move back until the ring caught it and well, the crank munched it. This all within 5 minutes of initial startup. The last time I talked to him about it (sore subject so I don't mention often), he had yet to get anywhere with Funderburk.

As for the other fellow I know and Hank, there is no call for taking someones parts and then hiding. Don't care what his personal problems are, he should be a man and send the damn things back unfinished. Then these guys can go somewhere else to get there parts done. By the way, Funderburk has had the W9 rods I mentioned for over a year now.

Thanks for the offer of assistance. I will be in touch.

Repo the 7.5 requires about 18 thous.clearance between piston and cylinder, due to the bulky pistons which grow pretty big. There's a Huddle House down at exit 179 I think just off off I-95 I've met Rick there a few times. Gman

Gman, the next time you meet Rick down at the Huddle House, please let him know that there is no excuse for not replying to certified mail or phone messages. Why doesn't he just send my connecting rods back to me? He and his dad may have problems, but by stealing my parts, he is only going to get more. I would be more than happy to go somewhere else, but if I have to buy another set of connecting rods, he's going to have to cough up some money.

As long as he is in the same place as last year, we have the address. He refuses registered letters and phone calls. Sounds like you comfirmed he is still there. Thanks. Didn't want to go knocking on the wrong door.
