You can see a picture of what J-E did on a 4.750 bore piston in the parts and pieces. Delivery time was around 2 weeks.

IH 4130- Connecting Rod. These are domed but flat top would probably be cheaper.

Check with Ross and JE's and see what you can get a set made for. They're not inexpensive but the quality is first rate and they can usually deliver in a couple weeks.

How do you guys get 4.75" pistons in an M??? I was told when I bored mine to 4 1/8 that it was as big as I could go without boring through the cylinders. Is this not so or do you just run the pistons in the sleeves letting the top of the cylinder hold them??? Confused and Curious

I think for the really big bore sizes they move the bore center over to the right side of the block, bore through the original cylinder and press in a custom sleeve to seal everything off. From what I've been told the block has to be re-enforced because boring it that big weakens it.

He is talking about a 4 cyl. You gotta have 6 to get 600 outta yours or your calculator is messed up. 5 X 5 X 5.5 X .7854 = 432.

Flogger please e-mail me at muleskinner@ev1.net I would like to talk to you about larger bore to my 53 SM. I am looking for a little more power. I have installed an elec. ig and am now having a new clutch and pres plate installed. I will use it for farm use now but later who knows. would a 4.50 bore make it run hot plowing?

I would not be afraid to plow with a 4.25 bore and 6.5 stroke but thats as big as I would go if I wanted to farm some.

4.25 by 6.5 should be a little over 100hp depending on what kind of head your running.

Hey smpuller,

What rod and piston would you be running with this set-up, and does the stock head gasket work okay?
