I am wanting to build the motor to at least 504 if I decide to stroke it what is the most you can get and how much power can you expect.

504 cubes is easy. Just bore the block to fit the 4 5/8 sleeves and pistons from a later model Case. 1370, 1570, 2470, 2670, 2870, 2090, 2290, 2390, 2590, 4490, 4690, 4890 all had 504 cubes. I'm not sure what you'll have to do for heads. Do you know what the compression ratio is on your 377 diesel? The larger displacement in the cylinder will jump that compression up about 34%. If you know your current compression ratio, just multiply that by 1.34. This will be very close to you new compression ratio. If it's much over 16 to 1, you'll at least need heavier valve springs and probably should go with a later model head off of a 451 or 504 for better flow. I'm not sure what all will fit this 377 diesel. If it were me, I'd start with a 451 engine from a 1030 Case. They'll bolt right up. As far as how big you can go, I've heard of these 500s, 600s, and 900s being bored, sleeved, and run dry that are over 1000 cubes. Yes that's ONE THOUSAND.

That's right. Bore it enough and stroke it out and you can get 1000+ inches. You'll have to run a spacer plate between the head and the block because of the looooo ng stroke. In fact, there are a few LA Cases with over 1000 inches and those are 4 bangers.

so it is the looong stroke for the spacers? probably the same reason for girdles, the loooong stroke! I doubt there are ANY 1000 ci 4 cylinders, let alone 6 cyinders!!

You need to catch up on what happening in the antique tractor pulling world. There is a four cylinder "L" Case advertised in the HOOK magazine right know that is much larger than 1000 cubic inch. It is called "L"catreze and was built by Ron Shipman out of Missouri. It will go down the track at speeds in the excess of 12 MPH with 18.4 -38 tires and the engine not running much over stock RPM. One tough SOB.

Hollar at Lamont about building a 504cid. I think he knows if you can bore the block to accept the 504cid sleeves and pistons.

lamont i would like to know more about this quick bolt on, you say can be done to the 900 to put a 1030 engine on it. it is my understanding that only 6 speed chain drive tractors will swap parts and look original.

No, it will not look factory. The breather and steering will be the most noticable changes. The 900 had the long steering shaft away from the side of the tractor. The 1030 had the steering box in the front behind the grill with true power steering. The 900 was only power assist. The 1030 also had dry element air cleaner inside the grill. The 900 had the oil bath on the left side. Other differences are minor.
