How would a massey harris 30 do at the pulls or would it be a bit underpowerd. Also a more likely tractor how about a international 686 just in the stock class. How would it do. Thanks in advance.

I pull a MH30. The thing was totally gutless even with the .040 overbore. I solved the problem with a $15 3 speed IHC pickup transmission between the bell housing and the transmission. I pull 4500 and 5500 lbs. class. Put the 3 speed in 1st and the tractor in 3rd and she is slooowww put if she gets the 14.9-38's to bite she can pull at an idle. I run a stock muffler and there has been times when the crowd thought I had killed it put the wheels were still turning. Have a nice trophy collection and not a lot invested.

I pull a Massey Harris 30 that has only been bored .40 over and it pulls really good with a 20" drawbar. I would stronglt suggest it if you can go with the 20" or higher drawbar. It never ran out of power with mine. It always looses traction.

A Massey 30 won't be a fireball on the track. The little flathead continental 162 ain't got much, and not a whole lot of room to work. They are just too heavy for the little motor.

There used to be some 686 IH diesels in central WI that ran pretty well, up around the Endeavor - Monticello area. Don't know if they still run or not...

well I live in briggsville it's only a couple miles away from Endeavor. I am looking at buying a 686 from my neighbor. He doesn't use it much and it had an engine overhaul only 100 hours ago. How much would that be worth and it comes with a loader.

Don't have a clue as to what the 686 is actually worth. Might post that on the IH board here.

Can't remember the one fella who pulls, or pulled, the 686 diesel. He might have been from Oxford, I know that him and his brother had a dairy farm up there somewhere when I moved out of state. They used to pull all over the area, that 686 won and placed in a lot of classes. I think the one brothers name might have been Richard, but I'm not completely sure. Been at least 5 years.

Used to go fishing at Briggsville with my Grandpa years ago.
