I want to lighten my 50 JD G up a little. Does someone know how much I can gain by removing the Hy system and replacing it with the flat back. Also if anyone has one I'd be interested.

Thanks, LRN

K&K has an alum one that the battery box will fit on for around $200.00 317-398-9883 you will loose 200 to 250 lbs

There was a gentleman a while back who contacted me when I was considering getting an original flat-back for my '48 "G", which would be for a battery-box seat, but I can't remeber his name or location. You have to be careful with an aluminum cover, because a lot of places won't let you run one. I ultimately decided that although his asking price certainly seemed reasonable for such a rare item, it was a little out of my price range. I went ahead and gutted my stock power-trol housing - remove the rockshaft, cylinder, valve assembly, pump gears and so forth. I did leave the PTO shaft in place, though. I never weighed the parts I removed, but I imagine it easily took off 100+ pounds.
