Has anyone had any experience sroking a 730 diesel? Any information would be appreciated. Can 830 rods be made to work? Thanks in advance.

Stroking will be more expensive than normal due to part of the crank being hollow. Don't plan on much more than 2" of stroke. Bore is the way to go with the diesels. Post a followup if you are interested.

We have one running around our club... I looked it over good while he was building it.. It was orginally build by Weins... they ran it for a while.. and broke a rod... he bought it broke from him... anyways.. he is using Cummins pistons.. and welded rods... G ends on the crank 3.300.. bushings in the piston.. He should have it out again next spring... JDGnut

JDGnut, Where are you from? I saw Wiens 730D at Sygourney (however you spell it) a long time ago. (>10 years) I would like to see how it looks/runs now. If I remember right, Wiens had a fixed factory wide front on it and 18.4 X 42's on the back. Tires were taller than 38's anyway. It ran good. Never blew smoke. Ran cleaner than a gas tractor. Anyway, Do you know what 720 was in the 5000lb Div V at Wauseon? I thought Linville only had a heavy Div II tractor. Lastly, any idea who has the 70D with yellow paint scheme that ran at Princeton. What gear does it run and is it the same one that Marlin was working on in '95.

I am sorry that I am unable to help you on your topic. John Deeres are my weak spot. 730's are good running tractors though. Best of luck!!

Forget the 830 rods. The 830 has a 4" rod journal while your 730 has a 3.75" rod journal.

Hey Bob, how do you expect to put a W-4 crank in a 730 diesel when a 730 is 2 cylinder, and a W-4 is a 4 cylinder? Bye the way, if I put a W-4 crank in my 88 Oliver, will that boost my power?

Well i am just havin fun on here nothin i say reely should be takin seriously...i do know about tractors..... .reely....i know a W-4 is the McCormick wide front version of the farmall H..... An oliver 88 is a six cylinder and putting a 4 cylinder crank in there would have you makin about as much power as one of those lil Farmall H's..... haha....rod journals would be all screwy...and alota other problems...ooo and BYE(spelled ,by,(your spelling mistake hehe)) the way you prolly could put a w-4 crank in a 7 30 diesel...would make enough compression to even run off kerosine..how ever you spell that..then..... ..Not as dumb as yeh though ehhhhh?

I was just testing you to see if you knew that an 88 was a 6 cylinder. No hard feelings, but I imagine that Eric wanted true info. Yet again, no offense.
