Hi I have a farmall H and would like some more horsepower without spending much. I was wondering which would be better for horsepower and the pros and cons of both. First I have a chance to buy a set of new old stock 350 Farmall pistons. And the second set is from a Farmall 560 LP. Which would be better for horsepower and about what could I expct from each? Thanks
Matt

What is the bore in your block? If I am not mistaken the 560 may be a 3-916 bore,, has a small wrist pin,, can be adapted to the H rod,, just move the wrist pin location up to set the piston height, for the 560 piston,, The 350 pistons should be a 3-5/8 bore,, the same method can be done with the wridt pins too, Will make a heck of a difference!! Do you know of a place to get one firecrater domed piston? If I get the 350 pistons the guy will throw in a set but the one has a score in it. What are these pistons worth? Both the 350 and firecrater? Thanks

ChadS thanks for your help I know I am going to be contacting you a lot through this board this winter as I try to build my first puller. What size is the bore of an H block originally? Would it work ok to not run a sleeve? Thanks
Matt

The H was 3-3/8 originally,, there was 3 different bores available,, with sleeves,, 3-3/8,, 3-9/16 and 3-5/8. those kits are available still, Ok,, with out stroking,, you can use the 560,, LP,, 3-11/16 bore and relocate the wrist pin on the rods, as I mentioned before,, the biggest you can go with the H is 3-13/16,, and still run on the original block,, as long as the block is in good shape,, As long as you have a piston that fits the bores once the sleeves are taken out,, it is safe to run,, just hone the block like you would normally.
