Ok,, After working on this today,, here is the scoop!! IT CAN BE DONE!! the Motor plate will bolt on at the top,, which automaticly centers it, I drilled and tapped the remaining holes in the block,, to mount the plate,, I will have to lenghthen the frame rails,, the front of the engine sits where the radiator originally is,, LOL,, I am bulding a flywheel,, I am drilling an H flywheel to the 6 cyl pattern on the crank,, and then having it balanced,, I also have to build a spacer between the flywheel and the crank to space it properly,, The frame rail cleared the block,, I had to relocate the Oil spout for the right side rail,, Looks good so far,, Any advice for this ? Any comment is great!! ChadS

I'm no Binder expert, but I agree with Donnie and TimC on the flywheel issue. A spacer between the flywheel and crank sounds pretty iffy/scary to me, but it sounds like you're going to go ahead and have a good flywheel made, so good luck with the project. It should be a screamer.

I found a 460 flywheel today,, It will work just fine,, no spacers,, just factory parts, The fly wheel is a bit bigger in diameter,, but will still fit inside the H bellhousing,, The only thing that I will have to do now,, is recut the flywheel for the H starter ring. The flywheel is the same dimentions,, (Thickness) well about 1/4 inch thinner than the H. Yeah I would not want to build something that would be a danger to me,, or any spectator or track official. I made the H flywheel for the 6cyl for measurement,, I was gonna try it,, but I came to my sences. Thanks guys,, ChadS

I think it sounds like a good Idea and fun.
We put a 466IH combine motor in a 706 one time and it was a blast. One concern I would have is the H flywheel. You will be spinning alot more RPMs than a H. I would have or make one for it rather than "make fit". Just saftey issues. If you ever seen one come apart you would understand.
Have fun with the project and be safe.

I was thinking that too,, I am going to either find a 460 flywheel or have a steel one made to the specs of the H,, and put in the big clutch,, I would like to thank all of you for the imput, I really appreciate it!!! ChadS

sounds to me like your goin at it the hard way, we used a 350 center houseing when we built the pup 666 lite sf tractor, used a 666 back plate and a 656 tranny and rear put a dt 466 in it and went and played i am pretty sure with a 460 back plateand flywheel the back end will bolt up use 460 frame rails bolt your h front end to it, we also used a 350 utility and put a 806 gas motor in it with 460 sheetmetel, it won a buncha pulls back in the early 90;s basicly ih made 3 tractors the c the h and the m the c died the h became the 300- then the 460- then the 666 the m became the 450- then the 560 then 706 - then 856- then the 1066, i once used a 560 cross for the rear end in a 1066, a lot of parts will work between these models, if you want to make a 560 go faster use a ring and pinion out of a 400 for instance

Balance the crank with the flywheel attached and use new (grade 8) bolts from arp or some place with lock tight torqued to the proper torque and make sure you don't have more than .0025 thousandts run out on the flywheel. Use a scatter blanket. To much run out and it will come apart. You can put a dial indicator on the flywheel and turn it over to check run out. Move the highest place to the top and loosen the bolts. Tap the flywheel down untill you split the differance. Repeat untill it is perfect.

Can I ask why you are doing this? Isn't it illegal most everywhere? If your doing it just for the heck of it, that's fine I just wonder why people build things that there is no class for. Just Asking

For some fun,, always played with a 4 cyl, H-450,, not a 6 cyl,, Learning new tricks,, to tune a 6 cyl engine,, I got the 4 cyl IH down pretty good,, As far as where to pull,, and being legal,, Depends on how you look at it,, I posted about two weeks, ago about "Dragster framed tractors" I was complaining about a 460 being in the 3500Lbs, class. To me,, I know that there is no way possible to get one that light with the original rear end or bellhousing,, or a TA,, Yes some 460 did not have TA's,, I seen a 460 with a SH rear end, and bellhousing. I think you could call that "Deevolution" Going back in time and using older parts from the tractors predicessor,, is the same thing as using newer parts on the older ones, Not picking on Olivers either,, but how many 88's that run around that have 1850 or like size engine in them,, I call that a guy who had a good idea,, Just my opinion,, ChadS
