Hello,, ya all getting tired of me and this project yet? HA HA,, Could someone tell me what the HP ratings are for the 263,283? and 301 gas engines? How many HP could be possible from a stock bore,, stock stroke, 301?? I have found a set of 806,, high compression pistons,, thinking bout doing some custom work,, I already am building a .020 copper head gasket for it,, ChadS

HEY CHAD . YOU MUST BE ONE OF THOSE LUCKY PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE A THING TO DO ALL DAY , EXCEPT , PLAY WITH ANTIQUE TRACTORS AND PLAY ON THIS SITE . I'M NOT SAYING ANYTHING IS WRONG WITH THAT , I'M JUST WONDERING HOW YOU FIND TIME TO CONDUCT ALL THESE EXPERIMENTS AND CUSTOM MACHINE WORK. AND AT THE SAM TIME MAKE A LIVING TO SUPPORT ALL THESE EXPERIMENTS AND R&D WORK. THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS THE SAME AS AN 806 GAS TRACTOR I THINK IT IS AROUND 90 OR SO HORSE POWER BUT A LITTLE BIT LOW ON LUGGING POWER BUT WILL MAKE A BAD LITTLE "H" FARMALL.IT TAKES A LOT OF MONEY AND TIME TO GET 90 HP OUT OF AN "H" .BY THE WAY , YOU SHOULD POST SOME PICTURES OF THE HYBRID WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED AND GOOD LUCK! I have a machine/repair shop.. Over 15 years,, by going to auctions,, good guy deals,, and freebies,, got lots of parts for H,M,350,450, and a few IH combines from the family farm. I work through the day in the shop,, working on antique tractors, engine services, I drove truck for 5 years, got tired of it,, no home life,, so I decided to go back to my heritage,, My dad is an accomplished machinist, mechanic, he has taught me everything I know,, about engines,, running machine equipment,, We started like everyone else,, a stock tractor, and a dream to be a good pulling team,, Our family has a 40 year history of tractor pulling, repair, etc,, We buy, sell, and trade tractor parts,, restorations, lots of stuff, All of the equipment is bought and paid for from blood sweat and tears like all the others who are successful,, I do have alot of spare time this time of year,, January rolls around,, You probably won't see much of me,, I have 5 stroker engines to build,, and that pays the bills for all the pulling,, development, and new machines to do the tasks we offer.. Hope this gives ya some history on us,, Just a hard working family who loves what we do,, I would like to learn how to post pictures on here,, need advice on how to do it,, ChadS

A 806 gas had low 90's hp, the combine gas motor was around 106hp.

Is that with firecrater pistons? I have a set of high alt, LP .060 over 806 pistons,, very different from the firecraters,, The 263 has firecrater, 3-9/16 bore,, the tops of the pistons come up past the block about a 1/2 inch. I would think that this engine would be in the 70 hp range,, right? Also,, it appears to have no sleeves in this block,, it is a 1970 engine,, late model 403 combine,, ChadS

Hey Chad, heres an idea we are working on, used a 282 diesel to start with, decked block to get rid of sleeve ledge, bored .020 over to fit flat top 806 gas pistons, stock stroke, 282 diesel head fitted with spark plugs, and opened up, gives you a better flow with 12 port head, had to machine pistons to lower compression down to 13.5 to 1, and we did other tinkering, it looks like she's going to go, we pull with no rpm limits, but this motor could be done to work in other classes.

There is as manys to build this engine as a dog has Fleas.292 chey pistons good choice If you can't use the diesel head use the 241 truck head.If you go 4 inch or over on the bore move 1 2 3 foreward and 4 5 6 back
