I bought a IH 6 cyl gas head this morning,, I looked through all of my books, can't find out what it is off of or even a part number listed in the books,, The guy said it may be off of a combine, but which one, does not remember. Can any one help? the casting number is 69717-R1. the date code is 6-22-B. It also has the firing order casted in to it too. there is a 5 and a X casted in toit above the casting number. Please help!! Thanks,, ChadS

Yep,, I called a Navistar shop,, they say it is off a L-180.. ci in ranged from all sorts of cu in. It is a IH engine,, same as the 460,560,and so on,, It has a very small compression chamber,, alot smaller than the head I have now,, My engine has firecraters in it,, and I can't put this head on it, if I do,, the pistons will slap the head. I set it on the block tonite, and the pistons pick the head up about .125 at least!! Might be something to remember in the future,, if someone is building a big 460 or 560 etc,, these heads migh t be as helpful as the LP heads to the letter series Farmalls, ChadS
