AFTER READING THAT DUMB POST BY BILL..I HAVE CONCLUDED THE FOLLOWING: 1) i am glad you find something else to complain about, what would we ever do with out complainers in the world, o that is right-function much better. 2) i am sure that 13 year old boy could beat you in many things such as intelligence, grammar skills, and tractor pulling (as he proved). 3) i know the scale girl stay there longer then most of the pullers themselves and recieves a tiny fraction of what she deserves. From before 6 pm so she can get the scale zeroed in until around 3 am sometimes. That become less then 5.55 an hour. Would any of you take your crap like she does for that much an hour. Plus she was at school all day on fridays then goes straight to the tractor pull. Then works on saturday again. She doesn't do it for the money, she does it b/c she enjoys it. you are making it increasinly difficult to enjoy even pulling tractors with you guys. 4)It seems that you constantly ignore the rules set down by the association. Then whenever some one says something you get very ignorant and offensive towards that person, but as soon as you see some one else doing something that does not go by the rule book you turn them in! That is a double standard. CONCLUSION) GENTLEMEN THIS IS A HOBBY....THAT IS IT....WE GET OUR RIBBONS AND GO HOME..WE ATTEND A DINNER AT THE END OF THE YEAR TO GET TOGETHER AS A "FAMILY". I DON'T KNOW ANYONE THAT WANTS TO BE AROUND INTOLERABLE FAMILY MEMBERS, I SURELY DON'T. SO TAKE IT AS A HOBBY, NOT A JOB. IT IS A SOCIAL EVENT AND SHOULD BE ENJOYABLE. THIS SHOULD NOT CAUSE HEADACHES LIKE IT IS. WHENEVER YOU TAKE TIME TO POST IGNORANT COMMENTS LIKE MANY OF YOU DID, YOU NOT ONLY HURT YOURSELVES;BUT YOU ALSO HURT THE PEOPLE INVOLVED. WHENEVER PEOPLE FIGHT OVER SOMETHING THAT IS NOT IN ANYONES CONTROL, THEN YOU BECOME IGNORANT OF THE SITUATION. IF YOU REALLY WANT THE PROBLEM CURED THEN MAKE A "NEW SCALE FUND". I AM SURE IT WILL CURE IT!!

here is the thing about Portersville..it is not the scale operator. she is going to college..i think she can read a simple scale. MAYBE IT IS THE SCALE ITSELF!! HAVE YOU LOOKED AT THAT THING RECENTLY?? every time a scale is used it become less accurate then the time before..Esp. whenever the scale is older then most of those tractors. AND maybe some people should take into consideration their own damn weight. whenever you weigh 300 pounds and expect your tractor to be light..get a grip on reality..not going to happen. HAS ANYONE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION ON RAINY DAYS THE MUD ON YOUR TRACTORS AND TIRES THAT EVENTUALLY GET DOWN INTO THE SCALE DUE TO THE OLD BROKEN BOARDS?? there is a mud puddle on each side of the damn scale..you track mud on there....it puts a little more weight on there each time a tractor pulls on and off..some mud does fall off into the cracks of the old boards and then onto the mechanics of the scale throwing off the weights. NEXT MAYBE YOU SHOULD RE-WEIGH YOUR OWN WEIGHTS!! some times your weights are not the correct weight that they are supposed to be....and this could also throw off the weight of your tractor....there are so many things that happen to that scale such as RUST...THAT SCALE IS OUT IN THE WEATHER 24/7...THERE FOR THINGS BECOME RUSTY AND DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY...NEXT IS THE SWARMS OF BEES DOWN BY THE SCALE.... bees are very opportunistic and take any refuge in any place they can. we all know how bees and their nests can cramp the mechanics of almost anything..and how about mice and other small animals?? BEFORE YOU CRITICIZE ONE PERSON YOU BETTER TAKE A LONG HARD LOOK AT YOURSELF AND THE EQUIPMENT IN USE!!!

Bill, i've been pulling at portersville this year and havent had my tractor weigh the same at any time i've been there. it has a lot to do with the scale operator!!! i took my little AC C and weighed 160 heavy drove off the scale and around the other side with one tractor between my 2 weighins and the second i was 20 light. go figure?
talk to Dick Logan he has been looking into this.

Dearest Brian,
Perhaps Instead of Being Critical of Those Who Operate the Scale, You Should Be a Little More Critical of Yourself. Maybe You Ought to work at a Pull Before You Mouth Off. You Need to Show Up at 6 PM on a Friday, Zero in a Scale That is Sure to Be Off All Night Long. You Put Up With Grown Men Acting Like Five Year Olds, and Blaming You Because The Scale Is Off, Something You Have No Control Over. Seven To Eight Tractors Lined Up At One Time Waiting To Weigh In, And They Must Or the Pull Will Stop, Also Factor In About Three Guys Who Pull Onto to The Scale In Between and Want You To Guess How Much Their Tractor Weighs. Because Of Them One May Go From 7500 lbs to 3500 lbs, Wonder Why The Scale Is Off? I am sure the scale girl would gladly zero it in for you, however because most wait until it is exactly their turn to pull to weigh in, they must be rushed through to continue on with the pull. And you know how you showed up at 6 PM, well you don't leave until 2 or 3 AM despite the fact you never left the scale all night long. I'm sure you will be pointed out as the up coming season comenses. Afterall, if you were a real tractor puller, you would not have time to be on the internet writing ignorance, you would be in the garage working on your tractor. If the scale at your association is so very accurate, stay there. Bill:Fair is Fair, there is no click, simply people having fun with something they enjoy. A Leson to you: You catch more Ladybugs with Sugar, than you ever will Vinegar... :o) I will definately hope to be watching that 13 year old boy beating you, maybe it isn't the tractor, perhaps it is the driver.

Maybe Your Should Try Some Of The Other Tractor Pulls In Your Area. I Bet There Scales Aren't Any Different Than Portersville's. Before You Start Critizing People You Don't Know, Such As The Scale Operator Maybe You Should Take A Closer Look At The Scale!! It Might Need Replaced. I Sure The Pullers Association Would Gladly Accept YOUR Contribution Towards A New One!!!

hey gus, BLOW ME! before you go popping your mouth off why dont you ask me where i pull. if you dont like my comments tough sh*t. my clubs scale is older than dirt but at least its consistent. as for the scale i was told by the president of that club who also is a member of my club that it was calibrated recently, as for the operator, 2 in one nite first one i was almost 200# heavy, took that off and got weighed by the other operater and was 150# light. if you would like to settle this at a pull sometime look for for me i aint hard to find, i pull 2 allis C's and a WD. ask around someone will point me out!

And they wonder why a lot of folks aren't showing up anymore. I haven't pulled there for two years now and I really don't plan on going back. The darn dyno is a joke to. I'll take the DQ before I'll go on that poor excuse for a dyno.

Alot of it depends on the scale and positioning on it. We went to a pull where they used DOT portable wheel scales. A G jd with a swartz wide front and cast rear hubs, weight brackets, and 300# of weight weighed in at 5500#. I would hope that a association wouldn't do that.

At a pull in Richmond a few years ago they used DOT portables. Worst setup ever. Wouldn't weigh the same tractor within 200 lbs twice. Threw off 600 lbs of suitcase weights, in front of the trooper running his little scales, and gained 400 lbs.

And they write tickets off those things. Now that should be illegal.

I feel the pain, my tractor weigh's more or less depending on where we go, I haven't had to weigh on portables yet, only movable platform scales,
