I used the M adapter plate and drilled it for a chevy. Have to make sure you get the centerline of the crank of the V8 in line with the centerline of the old M motor. Used 11" clutch and made an input shaft to go between motor and tranny with a 60 pitch chain coupling instead of the farmall piece that was in it. A little torch work and alot of grinding and the side frames will go back on the tractor. You will have to give up the top bolt hole on the each side frame. If you use a gear reduction starter that bolts to the bellhousing instead of the block you will find the "passenger" side frame rail a much easier fit. The 1.5" x 10 spline clutch disks are a little hard to find but you can use the original input shaft with a farmall M clutch disk inside the chevy hat. You will have to turn down the pilot end of the shaft or make a pilot bushing to fit it. Still gonna come up short on length and have to use a different coupling on the input shaft or add some spacers. I would be scared of adding a spacer if I ever planned to hook it to a seld or turn some serious RPM. Beyond that, hope you have access to a machine shop as you will find a need for all kinds of brackets, fittings, and the like to get the radiator and cooling problems, pilot bushing, throughout bearing, input shaft, etc, etc, etc solved.

I started building a super M with a 327 Chevy, used the M's rear mounting plate drilled to chevy bolt pateren, cut the ends of the frame rails off and welded angle irons to rails and drilled to fit the bellhousing. used chevy flywheel and a 11 inch clutch from a truck "big pilot shaft" Might have to turn shaft down to fit. Wish i had a Oldsmobile motor instead of chevy "different bolt pattern" I have pictures that i will post later
